Summertime Fun

Summer is the time of year when most people enjoy being outside and soaking up the sunshine.

Whether it’s a backyard cookout, a trip to the lake, or working on a tan, there is no shortage of activities to do while the kids are out of school.

As times have changed, so have the summer pastimes people participate in.

Mental Floss dug through the archives and found a list of 15 Forgotten Summertime Activities We Need To Bring Back.

Some of the activities—such as using bathing machines—seem archaic in today’s society. But it serves as a reminder of a time long gone.

It also provides some reminders of ways to enjoy a summer day that modern culture still appreciates (such as outdoor dancing at a street fair) and participates in.

I can often be found engaging in a variation of one of the activities mentioned in the article, such as tuning into the radio. Granted, it is typically satellite radio while I am driving. If it isn’t blisteringly hot outside, I’ll even crank the volume as I roll the windows down to enjoy some sunshine and fresh air.

Do any of the 15 activities in the article sound interesting to you? If so, drop a note in the comments and tell us about it.
