Music is known for misunderstandings.
A well-known example that comes to mind is the mumbled lyrics of “Louie, Louie”.
Another misunderstanding hit home for a nine-year-old boy in the UK around his Christmas pageant.
The Daily Mail tells the story of Schoolboy, nine, mistakenly dresses as Elvis instead of an elf at Christmas concert after family mix up.
The boy, Oscar Wilkins, told his family he had been cast as Elvis, but failed to mention it was Elvis the elf.
Comedy ensued as his family hunted down an Elvis costume for him to wear at the pageant. This little elf—dressed in a sequined jumpsuit—stole the scene from the other elves in traditional red and green costumes.
It all ended well. Oscar was a hit with the audience. He was also introduced to one of the all-time great performers in music history.
I just wonder if his costume included blue suede shoes.
