One of my favorite movies is the cult classic The Blues Brothers, which is set in one of my favorite cities, Chicago.
The movie was released in 1980 and wasn’t a huge blockbuster hit, even with the fame of comedic icons Dan Aykroyd (Elwood) and John Belushi (Jake). Not to mention the number of other guest musicians who appear throughout the movie. (Some are Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, James Brown, and Cab Calloway.)
As Jake and Elwood work to save the church-run orphanage where they grew up, they begin their “mission from God.”
Thirty years after its release—and more than 14 years ago—the Catholic Church added credibility to the brothers’ mission by calling the film a “Catholic classic.”
The event made the news thanks to an article by Reuters.
Now, for some reason, I intensely desire to sit down and rewatch the movie for the umpteenth time.
