Finally testing the new lens

I took advantage of a sunny afternoon today to take the new lens to Swan Lake Iris Gardens to see how it performs in “the real world.”

It was easy enough to shoot with, even though the larger diameter of the zoom ring is going to take a little getting used to.

Back at the home office, I downloaded the images, did a quick edit on them, and started looking at them at 100% and 300% actual zoom.

Wow! Just wow!

This lens is what my photojournalism professor would call “tack sharp.” The detail in the feathers, the eyes and the scenery I photographed is drastically improved over the old lens.

I cannot wait to get out and do more work with this new glass.
