Preserving Britain’s History

I have followed photographer Glyn Dewis and his photographic journey for several years. He is an educator willing to share his knowledge with the photographic community.

He has taken on a personal project that I have a lot of respect for. The 39-45 World War 2 Veterans Portrait Project is Dewis’ effort to remember those who served in World War 2 and fought for a liberated Europe.

In addition to the intense portraits, he also has numerous video interviews with the veterans where they tell their stories of being a participant in combat.

To say this project is powerful is an understatement.

To say this project is important is also an understatement.

For him to be inspired to take on this project and share it with the world is a gift from Dewis to the rest of the world. There is so much knowledge, wisdom, and stories of perseverance here that deserve our attention and respect.

I implore you to take the time to delve into the site and look at the portraits, see the stories told by the faces and uniforms, and then listen to the stories from the videos. Share this with everyone you know.
