Location scouting

A member of the Sumter Digital Camera Club posted about a sunflower field in the area that was blooming.

I had a location name. That’s it.

A search online gave me the formal name of the location. A second search gave me the location on a map.

Turns out this field is just a couple of miles away from my house. It sits out in the country…a part of the county I had not explored yet in the two years since we moved down here.

I thought about just packing up the gear and driving out there one morning and take my chances.

But I didn’t like that idea. So while watching the Grant Park 220 NASCAR race, I decided I would go over there after the race to look around.

Due to the rain delays in Chicago, the race started later than expected and would have ended after dark here in South Carolina. So I left the TV broadcast, switched to the Sirius XM broadcast and took a look around.

I caught the last rays of the sunset peeking out from behind the cloud cover–or is it Canadian wildfire haze? I snapped a couple of reference photos on my iPhone and started mentally planning out the images I am hoping to capture tomorrow morning.

Wish me luck!
